Our Erasmus mobility from Turin to Zagreb was the perfect opportunity to reflect on an AI in an european contest with foreign schoolmates.
We focused on moral integrity in industrial field and cultural inclusivity: ensuring that the people respect linguistic diversities (just think of how much thought goes into English and how they study it) and social ones, without standardizing them to external models.
Having this Erasmus experience between the Italian and Croatian school has given us the opportunity to understand that ethics could not be a limit, but must be the prerequisite for an innovation that puts human dignity at the center of the code, joining Piedmontese culture and industry with the dynamism of the Balkans.
During the activities, we discussed the ethics of artificial intelligence: work, risks and benefits. Talking about risks, we tried to identify whether an image had been created by artificial intelligence or not.
We then tried to compare our skills with those of artificial intelligence by creating an advertisement. Finally, we did a role play interpreting some cases in which artificial intelligence could turn out to be a problem.
CROATIAN SCHOOL SYSTEM
Positive aspect: we were very surprised to discover how much autonomy students have in the croatian school system. The school day is less rigid than ours: breaks are more frequent and there is genuine self-management of attendance, which gives students the freedom to organise their lesson hours with much more flexibility.
Negative aspect : we were expecting a different type of lesson, namely participation in a typical school day of theirs, and we were also surprised by the variety of ages in the group that assisted us and by the Croatian students’.
Anyway, it was one of those experience that will leave a lasting mark on our lives.
